The one with a field trip to JB

It was a fun field trip to JB today.

I had to go for my eye examination so I thot of asking friends to come along, and Jac&Pee decided to join in.

We went in like 430pm so the traffic was very smooth. We didn't encounter any problems at all. After I had my eye examination, we went to do what we love best...

SHOPPING!!! At City Square...

I went to get some scrubs from BodyShop, then to IZZUE.com to see some tops... (too bad they dun have anything I like). But I managed to get a really nice shade of brown berms from S&K and a cool Cap from some of the streetwear shops...

After shopping, we went over to Holiday Plaza to get what we always do... DVDs...
It was really hilarious how the sellers try to hide their stuff now. We had to be brought outside the Plaza to a secluded empty store where they stock up all their stuff.

After getting all the series that I want... (I can't believe I got some of the coolest series that would never be shown in spore), It was time for dinner.

For dinner, I decided to bring them to some place where they have delicious Herbal Chicken and lots of other dishes. But the only problem is I can't remember how to go there, so Kev had to drive round and round the area many many times till I suddenly caught sight of some familiar places and true enough... I found it!!!

This place is call "Zhu Lin" in another word, "Bamboo Forest". (My own translation)
Bcos by the time we reached there, it was already 9pm, so it was closed!!!
But luckily I had a backup plan, just beside the restaurant, was another famous place call "Teck Seng" which was as good.

So we all went in eagerly to order our favourite dish, Herbal Chicken, only to realise that they had sold out bcos we came late.....

Sigh..... We had to settle for second best again which is there "Red Wine Claypot Chicken". YUMMY!!! Next is "Oats Prawns", which is TO DIE FOR!!!

At the end of the meal, we only pay 100 ringgit for a chicken, steam fish, prawns, scallops and vegetables. COOL!!!

Everyone was tired and happy which I was really glad.

Thanks again for the company as I know when Pee starts school next week... Its MIA for the way..... HAHA.

This is some of the pic I manage to take...

The one with great moments in Australia...

After all the bad experiences,
it was the good experiences that stayed with me.

From the food...

to the activities that I experienced,

It was unbelievable...

When I first arrived in Sydney , we settled in Swissotel near Oxford Str. I went ard sightseeing mostly. The Sydney Harbour bridge, the Opera House and many more.

I also enjoyed the tour to Kev's Uni and the beaches ard Sydney...
I realized that food in Sydney is really cheap.
I went dining at the Fish Market and the seafood is so fresh and cheap. I love it.

Next stop is Canberra. My graduation.
The place is so peaceful and quiet.

It’s a nice environment to rest and relax.
Beautiful scenery and the hotel was lovely.

The Parliament House was magnificent.
Oh and my grad went well as well.

After grad, I went to Perisher and Blue mountain for skiing.
It was my first time skiing and I couldn’t believe that I finally mastered it after hrs of falling down the hill. Can’t wait to do it again soon.

Next stop, Cairns.
We stayed at Shangri-La which oversee the Marlin Jetty.

The view was... wow...

I went river rafting and scuba diving.
Both were great great experiences.
Being underwater...

and down the river...

I will never forget and the friends that I made.
It was priceless.
The people were much better there as well.

Next was getting on a sea propeller plane and taking a scenic trip ard some of Aus islands like Green Island.

It was picturesque.

What surprises me in Cairns was that it was mostly populated with not only Aussie but Japanese as well. They opened many souvenir shops & restaurants. Its like a tiny Tokyo there.
I even had the opportunity of tasting their Aus $250 Seafood Platter...

Damn SHIOK!

By the way, while in Cairns , I tried my luck at the local Casino, and I actually won quite an amount when I played the Black Jack. It was so exciting.

Cairns is where I love most...
The sun, the people were all so beautiful.

Really gorgeous!
Thanks Kev, for such a wonderful and unforgettable trip.

The one with my bad encounters with the Aussie

My trip to Australia was overall fruitful and an eye opener.
New experiences (good & bad).

Good experiences:
New friends, never tried before activities.

Bad experiences:
Discrimination.
(I will first talk abt my bad experiences)

I was so excited, boarding the British Airway aircraft, first time experiencing the business class services, the spacious comfy couch-like seatings, the variety of entertainment features and the specially prepared 3 course meal plus unlimited supply of different beverages. I cant wait to reach Sydney and meet the people over there.

After abt 8hrs of flight, we finally reached. As I proceed to collect my luggage, I was stopped right after the customs and this lady officer started to ask me random questions like whats my purpose here and what do I do back home. I realized that it was just a routine check so I let it pass even though she was quite rude. I didn’t want this to dampen my spirit. As I was waiting for my luggage to appear, another male officer came up to me and asked me the same questions. When I told him abt the lady officer whom she had signed her name on my ticket, he ignored me and continued to question me on the same stuff and told me to go a corner as he wanted to inspect my luggage. I was appalled but follow suit as Kev was targeted as well. As he ransacked my stuff, he continued to question me on my intentions there. When I told him abt my graduation in Canberra, he asked me for proof and when I showed him the grad gown which I brought, he asked for a letter…

FUCK YOU!
I thought to myself. How the fuck would I know I need to proof my purpose to a country even though I may only be going there for a holiday. If I am going just for a holiday, do I need a parent or government letter to proof myself?
FUCK YOU!

I was so pissed and mad that they would trouble me this way. I soon realized that Kev & me were the only ones being interrogated and whats worst is that we were the only Asians around. I realized it was discrimination!

After the whole ordeal, I was very traumatized, wondering would it be the same when I arrived in Canberra and Cairns later. The whole trip seemed to suck for me later on… It didn’t just stop at the customs, as I went on for my entire trip ard Australia, I encounter many more of such disturbing scene. It was really disappointing and I am beginning to hate WHITE ppl!

For a moment, I felt like a minority and you would think that it would be a lesson learnt and when we get back to Spore, things will be different and I will look at ppl in a new perspective… but you are wrong.

The problem is, we will never learn. We may complain abt how others discriminate us, but we ourselves on the other hand, would discriminate others. I guess its just the way of life. The whole fucking world is a mess now after Sept 11. Nothing will ever be the same.
There will always be discrimination, prejudice, hatred, revenge among ppl.

What can we do you may ask?
Avoid them.
I wouldn’t travel as much to western countries anymore.
Anyway, I still felt that services in Asian countries were far more superior than in Western countries.
And it’s a fact!
