The one with Nemo and his unwelcome friends
I went for a "holiday" in Male recently, my maiden trip. I had great expectations hoping to have a great time. Well... remember the BITCH I had a hard time in London with, I bumped into her again. Oh my god!!! What shit luck I have...!!! As usual, she had her usual nonsenses and the whole group is so distressed by her. I really don't know what her deal is, pissing everyone off.
Well, enough of her.
Seriously, whats the big deal with Male really...
Lets start with the resort...
Maybe I was staying at a cheap, ordinary resort, its like our Singapore's Rasa Sentosa or the Siloso Beach Resort. It was really disappointing. Furthermore, there were no service at all. What's worst, during my checkout day, it was pouring. Some rooms were provided with umbrella and mine wasn't. Not only that they didn't bring me one, I had to shelter myself with a towel all the way to the checkout counter which is like a mile away!!!
The other disappointing factor was the food was only mediocre. I went for their breakfast buffet, I thought I was at some "Killiney Kopitiam". Then a friend of ours was raving abt this "Grilled Red Snapper" at another eating place which needed like 30mins to prepare. We decided to try it and it felt like an eternity until the fishes decided to turn up. By the way the cafe wasnt even crowded. The fishes that were slaughtered seemed to come from a family of 4. Michelle got the mama fish, Aileen got the sister, Lindsy got the fat daddy and I got slim junior. The fishes came in different sizes and what was more interesting was, they all cost the same. Lindsy couldn't stand daddy's BO so she wanted to exchanged her share for baby junior. It was terrible. Me and Aileen went back to the resort getting diarrhoea after that.
Getting to the beach now...
The weather wasn't that great but wasn't that bad either. I always thought the sands on Male would be whiter and smoother... WRONG! Its like any other beach sand you have in Singapore...
The only exciting part of the "holiday" I guess was when I went snorkelling. The best memories had to be the close encounter with the different marine creatures, big and small. The water was shallow for quite a distance until we reached a deep drop into the ocean. This was where we saw some of the most fascinated creatures. The drop was really deep, we didnt dare to venture further fearing of the unknown. Its like the scene from "Finding Nemo", where Nemo and friends were at the cliff when they first discovered the boat way ahead. But the curiosity got the best of me so I decided to edge alittle more.
I caught a glimpse of what looked like an enlongated silverish shadow ahead. I try to signal Aileen to take a look but the shadow disappeared quickly. Shortly after, it appeared again... 2 black-tip shark slowly slither into sight. One was as long as 3 quarter length of my body and the other alittle shorter. It seemed like the mother shark was bringing Junior out for a picnic and Junior started making its way towards us, I was really starting to freak out. I know these sharks are usually quite harmless... ARE U NUTS!!! Im not going to just stay there and find out whether they are tame or not!!! Okay okay back to the story... Junior started to circle us, I could see its eyes staring straight at us. That really wasn't a delightful feeling.
I thot to myself, swim like ur life depended on it n just leave Aileen behind for them to munch on. She should be enough for lunch... But I wasnt ready to do that. When the opportunity striked, I pulled Aileen and we swam for our lives back to shore all the while looking back making sure Junior didnt follow. I guess it was put off by our splashes from the water. They both disappeared from sight after awhile...
I was saved and glad to live for another day!!!
Well I guess these were my adventures in Male...
sign out.
